What are Bereaved Sibling Days?
Bereaved Sibling Days bring siblings and families together at a venue such as a Zoo, Theme Park, or similar attraction. In the morning, we all join a bereavement therapy workshop, that focuses on ensuring the siblings have chance to explore their own grief and emotions and can begin to understand how this impacts their day to day life. Through the supported activities, siblings and parents have discussions they may not have had before, with qualified therapists on hand to ensure that topics are safe to explore, together.
In the afternoon, families have free access to the venue, giving opportunity to have fun and do something for them. For some siblings, this can be the first time that they, along with their families, have been told that it’s ok to smile again and create new memories, together.
-
Each year, we increase the number of Bereaved Sibling Days that we run. In the past, we’ve held them London, Manchester, Yorkshire and Hertfordshire. This will soon expand to East Anglia and South West of the UK.
-
These sibling orientated days are completely free for families to attend.
-
The Bereavement Workshops are delivered in partnership with one of our trusted Bereavement Therapy Providers. They have significant experience in supporting children, young people and adults to explore their grief. The workshops are delivered in groups giving siblings and parents/carers the chance to meet others going through similar experiences. 1:1 conversations can be accomodated when required, in small break out spaces.
