Volunteer with us!

Why Volunteer?

By volunteering for Sibling Support, you will be making a real difference to the support we provide. Our volunteers allow our charity to run smoothly and whether your interest is being in front of people at face to face events, or helping behind the scenes with administrative tasks,, our Volunteering Team are ready to welcome you. Our varied roles and flexible approach means that whether you’re able to dedicate an hour a month or a day a week, there’ll be a purposeful role for you that means you that you can see the difference you are making.

Our varied roles range of packing our grief resources ready for distribution around the country, through to supporting our in person events. If you prefer to help behind the scenes, our remote working means that you’re able to help with research and admin tasks to suit the time you have available.

What’s in it for you?

Volunteering is a great way to build confidence in a supportive environment. We provide you with a welcome induction, training on your role and ongoing support, to make sure you never feel unsure of what you’re doing.

Build Confidence

Many of our volunteers support our work, because it allows them to use theirs skills in a less restrictive way. Other responsibilities of your life may mean you’re not always using your skills in the way you want. Whereas volunteering often means you can make sure your skills and experience are used to the optimum.

Use your skills and experience

As part of your induction to Sibling Support, we want to understand what’s motivating you to volunteer with us. If it’s to learn new things, we’re committed to helping you achieve that! We can offer on the job training and ensure you feel like you’re developing too.

Learn New Things

Over 75% of our volunteers are a Bereaved Sibling themselves, or have worked in Bereavement Support and so really understand why our support makes real difference to Bereaved Siblings around the UK. You might be able to use your experiences to help shape our support.

What Roles Are Available?

Administrative Support Volunteer

Your organised approach, eye for detail and self driven ability to achieve a task, means that our Administrative Support role is the perfect volunteering role, for you! You’ll be helping us to coordinate our event bookings, researching project arrangements such as venue hire and speaker information and making sure our records are kept up to date. As our events change throughout the year, the tasks that you’ll be working on will vary, but whether we’re building up to an event, or capturing and storing feedback, you’ll be able to fit your tasks into the time you have available. Our ongoing support means that we support you to build confidence in what you’re doing and you’ll be able to work remotely, too.

In person Event Volunteer

Our in person events are growing. They range from family Bereavement events where we focus on bringing Bereaved Siblings and their parents together for workshops, days out and the chance to explore their grief together, through to social informal meet ups for adult siblings in informal settings. Whether we’re running an event in a zoo, a theme park or a coffee shop, they couldn’t run safely without our volunteers. Your outgoing supportive nature and ability to bring genuine empathy to sensitive conversations, means you’re going to help make our in person events that extra bit more special.

Although our event dates are fixed, you can volunteer with us as little or as much as suits your schedule. You’ll be reimbursed for your travel expenses and so whether you’re supporting an event on your doorstep or further afield, you won’t be out of pocket.
