Our 2025 - 2030 Strategy
Ensuring every Bereaved Sibling is Seen, Heard and Supported.
Our vision for 2030
Our vision for 2030, is to live in a country where every bereaved sibling, under 18 years old, is able to access grief support in an effective way for them and use this support to manage grief on a daily basis. This could involve:
Having access to free resources, that are presented in an accessible format.
Having access to social groups or meet ups where they can meet other bereaved siblings - allowing them to know they’re not the only young person, feeling similar emotions.
Having access to a local bereavement provider, who recognises the significant impact of grief after the death of a brother or sister - and is part of a network of like minded professionals who work together to offer the best level of support.
Going back to school, after the bereavement and being supported by teachers who are trained and aware of how they might be feeling and what they can do, to help.
Being given the opportunity to create new memories with their family - knowing that it’s ok, to laugh and smile.
Why is our 2030 vision based on accessibility and growth?
We know that after their brother or sister has died, bereaved siblings can wonder if their feelings are validated, feel confused at what they feel and often, feel as if they’re the only ones to have experienced a sibling death. For those siblings who have never experienced a bereavement before, we know that it also helps to identify and learn to recognise the feelings, before exploring how to manage them.
We’re on a path that ensures that no matter how a bereaved sibling wants to access support, there is a form of support available to them. We’re focused on exploring our current work and understanding how this can be developed, in addition to offering more localised projects and services and evolving opportunities for peer support.
What does our 2030 vision offer bereaved siblings, their families and professionals?
